About

My name is Selim Rochat. I fell into American rap in the mid-nineties, at the exact age when you believe the music you're discovering exists for you alone. Thirty years on, I notice two things: access to Tupac's catalogue has never been this easy, and guidance through it has never been this poor.

The platforms push the same five songs. The posthumous albums, wildly uneven in quality, sit on the same shelf as the records he actually conceived. And the legend, between theories about his death and novelized retellings, has ended up burying the work.

This site does the opposite job: it starts from the records, the films and the texts, in the order in which they are easiest to tame, with the context you need and nothing more. It's a listening guide, not one more biography, and not a true-crime site.

What this site is not

tupacworld.com is an independent tribute. It has no connection with the estate of Tupac Shakur, with Amaru Entertainment, or with any record label. No lyrics are quoted here and no cover art is reproduced: when I write about a record, it's to make you want to hear it where it can be heard legally, not to replace it.

How the site is funded is described on the transparency page. For any remark, factual correction or suggestion: contact@tupacworld.com.
